DIY – Luggage Rack Husqvarna 701

After the luggage racks available on the market did not meet our requirements, two of us mechanical engineers, we quickly set up our own 3D construction. The idea is to give our luggage systems a really stable fixation not o have any movement of the luggage while riding offroad. KTK GmbH has the abbility and machine park not only to do the software planing also to produce the first prototypes of the new system.

Kitchen scale party

If you can not think of anything else: Take a kitchen scale and determine the weight of your luggage. That happened to me yesterday night.

Everyone knows the lighter the bike is, the better off-road performance it gets. As we were not sure how much over all weight of luggage and equipment we will get, i took some time the kitchen scale and went to my gear up room.

Tire decision

With none of us ever traveling in the South of Africa on motorcycles, little experience on the new bikes and tires, choosing the right “footwear” is difficult. The usual sources of information are as meaningful as so many forums. According to post and forum, tires between 1500km and 8000 miles are durable, have no or perfect side guidance and adhere perfectly or not at all depending on the driver and the ground. Eine erste Zusammenstellung von Werkzeugen zur Diskussion und Ergänzung. Speziell die Demontage des Fußbremshebels ist uns mit dem OEM Werkzeugsatz nicht gelungen. Deshalb wurde ein wenig ergänzt.

Here is a first Version of our Tool bag. We share the tools between the different bikes. The original OEM Toolkit resticts the scope of repairs to a minimum, so we decided to extend the tool kit as we share it between four bikes.

Manchmal kommt es anders… / S##t happens…

{Heute mal auf DEUTSCH}

Der Plan war die Motorräder in Spanien einzufahren ohne Frostbeulen zu bekommen. Wie es immer so ist fängt man mit einfachen Pisten an und testet was geht. Am Tag Zwei wird man schon Experimenteller. Die Pisten schmäler, steiler und anspruchsvoller. Relativ schnell stellt man fest die Grenzen setzt nicht die Maschine sondern das können des Fahrers und sein Skrupel wie man mit einem neuen Bike umgeht.
